FAQ
What is Kessler Line?
A persistent open-world military sci-fi shooter. Players join the Terran Directorate or the Frontier Coalition and fight for regions and facilities in the Kessler system. The war state is stored on the server and does not reset between sessions.
Can I play it now?
Not publicly yet. The game is in development and there is no public client build. The download page will link to builds once they are published.
What is The Rift?
A hostile biomechanical force controlled by the game. It spreads infestation through regions, attacks weakly held fronts and threatens both player factions.
Does my account carry over into the game?
Yes. The website and the game share one account system. Your faction, rank, experience and career statistics shown on your profile come from the same backend the game servers use.
Can I change my faction?
Your first faction choice is free. After that, switching sides has a cooldown (currently 7 days) so that players cannot hop between sides mid-battle.
Is progression pay-to-win?
Progression is designed for specialization, not raw power: later unlocks are role alternatives (marksman, engineer, medic and similar), not strictly better gear.
I was banned. What can I do?
Sign in: if your account is suspended, the site shows the reason and lets you submit an appeal. Moderators review every appeal by hand.
How do you handle cheating?
Game servers are authoritative and validate movement and hits. Suspicious signals are queued for human review; the system never bans automatically.
How do updates work?
The launcher compares your install with the signed release manifest and downloads only the changed pieces, usually a few megabytes. It cannot start a build that is older than the minimum version for the channel; it updates first. Every download is checked against a signature the launcher ships with.
Verify and repair: what if the game will not start?
Use Verify or Repair in the launcher. It checks every installed file against the manifest and re-downloads only what is missing or damaged. Your settings and account stay untouched.
Where is the game installed?
Per Windows user, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\FrontierWarfare\Game\<channel> (one folder per channel). No administrator rights are needed. Uninstall by deleting the folder.
What are the Live and Beta channels?
Live is the stable release. Beta carries newer builds that are still being tested. You can install both side by side from the launcher and switch whenever you like; the accounts are the same. See the download page for the current version of each.
Which platforms are supported?
The client is built with Godot for desktop. Final platform support has not been decided yet.
